MAINTENANCE TECH ~ The City of Pelham is currently accepting applications for a full time position of Maintenance Tech with the Facilities & Landscape Management department. This job involves manual labor of some semi-skilled and unskilled nature including both heavy and light physical labor in a wide variety of city activities as it relates to routine maintenance of the City’s infrastructure, such as, but not limited to:
- Assist with landscaping and groundworks crew; this includes planting shrubs, flowers, pruning, sodding, etc.
- Assist in application of herbicides and pesticides;
- Other assignments may be made by the supervisor in any other field of skilled labor as it pertains to operating machinery, i.e. mowers, trimmers, etc.
High school diploma or GED required. Minimum six months general labor experience in the area of use of tools and equipment in lawn maintenance and repair work. Must possess and maintain a valid Alabama driver’s license.
Salary and benefits beginning at $26,587.00 depending on experience, education, credentials and certifications.

SEASONAL MAINTENANCE ~ The City of Pelham is currently accepting applications for the seasonal position of Laborer. This job involves manual labor of an unskilled nature including both heavy and light physical labor as it relates to the routine maintenance of the City’s school grounds.
Duties may include, but not limited to the following: operate hand mowers , string trimmers and edger’s in the care and maintenance of miscellaneous areas; prune, clean and mulch landscape beds; operate riding mowers, utility vehicles, tractors and other light duty equipment in the care and maintenance of primary areas; water turf areas as directed; help in project work including but not limited to use of hand tools; proper care of assigned tools and equipment; any other duties as directed by supervisor.
Working knowledge in the following areas helpful but not required: working knowledge of and ability to use hand and power tools and equipment; ability to operate trucks, tractors and light motorized equipment; physical strength, stamina and agility; ability to follow oral and written directions.
Must have a valid driver’s license; Applicant must satisfactorily pass a Background Investigation and pre-employment drug screen. Hourly rate is $7.50.
