Economic Development Director/CDA Executive Director ~ The City of Pelham is currently accepting applications for the full time position of Economic Development Director/CDA Executive Director. This position will be responsible for all facets of economic development to include lead generation and consistent dialogue, database of available properties, presentations, trade shows and networking; Work in partnership with Alabama DOC, NAIDA, Shelby County Economic Development Council, and Commercial Development Authority to promote economic development and create opportunities for growth; Prepare marketing collateral to include demographic data, community flyer and promotional video; Create and maintain website content and social media platforms relating to economic development; Submit development plans and incentive packages to City Council & Mayor for consideration; Responsible for facilitating city grant applications to include CDBG & TAP grants and ensure implementation in timely and costly manner; Work with various committees but especially the Commercial Development Authority to create and adopt master plan and implement growth strategies; Serve as liaison to media on all matters relating to economic development; Partner with city departments and boards in crafting and implementing ordinances that promote growth; Communicate activity and updates to City Council & Mayor at council meetings or as needed. This position will be under the direction of the Community Development Authority Board.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Compiles and analyzes data on economic, social, and physical factors affecting land use, and prepares or requisitions graphic and narrative reports on data; Confers with local authorities, civic leaders, social scientists, and land planning and development specialists to devise and recommend arrangements of land and physical facilities for residential, commercial, industrial, and community uses; Recommends governmental measures affecting land use, public utilities, community facilities, and housing and transportation to control and guide community development and renewal; Reviews and evaluates environmental impact reports applying to specified private and public planning projects and programs.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; and four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Valid driver’s license required. Applicant must satisfactorily pass a Background Investigation and pre-employment drug screen after receiving conditional offer of employment.
Salary and benefits at $70,000.
