The City of Pelham is supported by numerous departments. Each department is unique and important in its role to support the community. Departments include the following: Administration (clerical support, accounting/financial support), Court, Engineering (City Engineer), Building Inspections & GIS, Revenue, Human Resources, Facilities Maintenance & Landscape, Library, Parks & Recreation, Public Works (laborers for maintenance and repair of streets and other community areas), and Garage (mechanics to support operation and maintenance of all city vehicles), Police, and Fire. Current Opportunities: 

MAINTENANCE TECH ~ The City of Pelham is currently accepting applications for a full time position of Maintenance Tech with the Facilities & Landscape Management department.   This job involves manual labor of some semi-skilled and unskilled nature including both heavy and light physical labor in a wide variety of city activities as it relates to routine maintenance of the City’s infrastructure, such as, but not limited to:

assist with landscaping and groundworks crew; this includes planting shrubs, flowers, pruning, sodding, etc.;  assist in application of herbicides and pesticides;  Other assignments may be made by the supervisor in any other field of skilled labor as it pertains to operating machinery, i.e. mowers, trimmers, etc.

High school diploma or GED required.  Minimum six months general labor experience in the area of use of tools and equipment in lawn maintenance and repair work.  Must possess and maintain a valid Alabama driver’s license.

Salary and benefits beginning at $28,500.00 depending on experience, education, credentials and certifications.

DISPATCHER ~ The City of Pelham will be accepting applications for employment and entrance testing for the position of Dispatcher in the Pelham Police Department.

This sheet has been prepared to assist you in the completion of the application and submitting the completed application for the test.  It is preferred that you complete the application by using the link below for a PDF fillable form; handwritten is acceptable, but MUST be legible, using black ink.  (Applications received in pencil will be disqualified.)  Blank applications may also be picked up at City Hall, Ground Floor, Human Resources, 3162 Pelham Parkway, Pelham, AL  35124, beginning at 8:00AM, Wednesday, July 6, 2016 through Thursday, August 4, 2016 at 5:00PM.  City Hall is open Monday through Friday 8:00AM – 5:00PM.

Do not attach copies of certificates, transcripts or resumes to the application.

Completed applications MUST be submitted in person, to City Hall, Ground Floor, Human Resources, 3162 Pelham Parkway, Pelham, AL beginning at 8:00AM – 5:00PM, Wednesday, July 6, 2016 until 5:00PM, Thursday, August 4, 2016.  (City Hall is open Monday – Friday, 8:00AM – 5:00PM.)

You will be required to show photo ID at the time you submit your completed application.  You will then be given test instructions, location and any other materials necessary for the test.

Test date is Thursday, August 18, 2016 OR Friday, August 19, 2016. You will be notified via telephone of your test date and time.  Please ensure your application has correct contact information.   Testing will be approximately one and a half (1.5) hours in length.  No communication devices are allowed in the testing area.

Test location is the Pelham Police Department, Roll Call Room located at 32 Philip Davis Street, Pelham, AL  35124.   You must bring a photo ID to the test site.
