The City of Pelham is supported by numerous departments. Each department is unique and important in its role to support the community. Departments include the following: Administration (clerical support, accounting/financial support), Court, Engineering (City Engineer), Building Inspections & GIS, Revenue, Human Resources, Facilities Maintenance & Landsacpe, Library, Parks & Recreation, Public Works (laborers for maintenance and repair of streets and other community areas), and Garage (mechanics to support operation and maintenance of all city vehicles), Police, and Fire. ASSISTANT GOLF PROFESSIONAL ~ The City of Pelham is currently accepting applications for the position of Assistant Golf Professional at the Ballantrae Golf Club. This position assists the Head Golf Professional in supervising and managing the golf operations department in a professional and efficient manner. Provide excellent customer service, professional advise and assistance to all members and guests, teach lessons and clinics.  Directly interview, supervise, schedule and train outside services personnel.  Supervise all other golf operations personnel as directed by the head professional.  Manage tournaments and assist with merchandise management; must be able to work flexible hours and handle multiple assignments at one time. This position is required to work hours on weekdays, weekends, and holidays.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:  Assist in supervising and managing the total golf operations department in a professional and efficient manner. Must be able to think independently and make decisions on one’s own in the absence of the Head Golf Professional; Provide excellent customer services, professional advice and assistance to all patrons; Provide golf instruction and clinics that are consistent with instructional methods, policies and procedures of senior instructors; Responsible for interviewing, training, scheduling and supervising up to fifteen part-time outside services personnel; Assist in planning and budgeting for the golf operations department. The Assistant Golf Professional must be knowledgeable of the USGA rules of golf.  A complete job description is available upon request.

Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; one or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Must have completed level one of the PGA golf management program and maintain an active classification in the PGA of America.  Certified in First Aid and CPR.

Salary and benefits beginning at $30,141.13, depending on experience, education, and other training.  In addition, will receive 75% of all lesson income and 85% of clinic income.

FOOD & BEVERAGE SERVER ~ The City of Pelham is currently accepting applications for the seasonal position of Food & Beverage server for the Ballantrae Golf Club.  This job includes supporting the Food & Beverage services provided by the Golf Club inside the grill and beverage cart services on the course, and may include but not limited to the following:

-        May be responsible for opening and closing and nightly clean-up;

-        Assisting in support of banquet set up and breakdown for functions and events in the Fireside Grill area;

High school diploma or GED required. Must be 21 years of age.  Experience in customer service greatly desired!    Valid driver’s license required.  Beginning rate is $8.00 hour.

APOSTC POLICE OFFICER ~ The Pelham Police Department is now accepting applications for an APOSTC certified police officer. You must have a minimum of two years experience. College education is not required but preferred. Applicant must have a current Alabama Drivers License or the ability to obtain one. You must meet eligibility requirements for accessing certain confidential records along with the ability to legally possess and carry a handgun. Salary and benefits beginning at $44,000.00. The department is looking for a self motivated individual seeking employment with a professional law enforcement agency.
