2010 Pelham Racquet Club Tournaments

 

March 12-14  USTA Super Senior Sectional Championship

This tournament will have around 1100 players from the Southern States.  These players have won at the local and state level to advance to the sectionals.  Players range from 59 years old and up.

 

March 28 – April 4     USTA Pelham Racquet Club Pro Circuit Women's $25,000 Challenger

Touring professionals from all over the world will be here to compete for the $25,000 purse! A Challenger level event that features players that have enough WTA points to qualify for this tournament. Top-flight tennis from the world’s top professional players.  Many past, present, and future tennis stars compete in these events. Plan to see great match play all week!  Note to players:  Housing available for main draw players.  Please contact Chaney Mills at the Pelham Racquet Club 205-621-3380 to reserve housing.

 

May 06 – 09  USTA League Alabama Senior State Championships

Senior (50+) League teams that won their local leagues will compete for a State Championship and the chance to move on to South Carolina to the Sectional Championships and maybe the USTA Nationals! Team play in 2.5 – 4.5 Levels for men and women.

 

June 4 – 6  The 3rd Annual Rick and Bubba Super Summer Slam Sponsored by The Rick and Bubba Show

Men/Women Single/Doubles/Mixed 30,40,50,60,70

Men/Women Single/Doubles 2.5-5.0

Mixed 6.0-10.0

Note:  All draws are first match loser consolation.  Singles, Doubles, and Mixed divisions will all have consolation rounds.

July 10 – July 15 Southern Open Boys and Girls 14s

Southern Championship for junior players, boys and girls 14 and under. Top juniors from across the nation compete in singles and doubles for Southern and National ranking. We usually receive entries from players as far away as California, New York, and Puerto Rico for this event. Accomplished young competitors will vie for one of the most prestigious titles on the National Junior Tournament Schedule.

 

August 19 – 22 Alabama State Closed

The best tournament players competing will compete for a state championship. Now with open and all age divisions in one tournament. Closed to non- residents of Alabama, this event is a “Grand Slam” of Alabama tennis, counting over twice as much in points for state rankings. Feed-In-Consolation draws in all singles events. Expect intense competition in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles.

 

September 23-26 Alabama State NTRP Division

100 players from around the state will converge on Pelham for this event.

October 13 – 17  Southern Senior Closed

This will be our fifth year hosting this tournament, a Southern Championship for adult players that compliments our Southern Championship for junior players. The best tournament competitors from the nine Southern Section states will face off for a Southern title and the valuable ranking points that come with this tournament. A very high level of match play will define the competition on the Sectional level.  Men’s and women’s singles and doubles in the Open, 25, 35, 45, 55, 65, 75, & 85 divisions. Mixed doubles available in Open, 25, 35, 45, 55, and 65 divisions.

 

October 29 – October 31  Pelham Fall Classic

This is a perennial favorite of the players on the tournament trail! 2009 will  mark the 27th consecutive edition of this event making it the longest continuously running NTRP tournament in Alabama. Racquet Club Director Ann Etheredge has been running this tournament since it’s inception. Men’s and women’s singles and doubles in NTRP levels 2.5 – 5.0 and combo mixed doubles in 6.0 – 10.0 draws offered.
