Lieutenant Bill Jones, a.k.a. Command Sergeant Major William Horace Jones

Lieutenant Bill Jones of Engine Company 93 is also known as Command Sergeant Major William Horace Jones of the 1/167^th Infantry.  Currently stationed in Afghanistan, Lt. Jones has faithfully served our Country for over 23 years.  This is his second overseas deployment since September 11^th, 2001.  Bill has served the citizens of Pelham with the same honor and determination since his joining the Pelham Fire Department 17 years ago in April of 1990.

“Commander” Jones has been awarded Two Meritorious Service medals, Two Army Commendation Medals, and four Army Achievement Medals.  A Graduate of the Sergeant Major Academy in Fort Bliss, Texas, Commander Jones has also attended such classes as the Rescue Eagle Course in Romania.  He has received numerous letters of commendation over the years of military service.

“Lt.” Jones holds eighty plus fire related certifications as well as being trained as an emergency medical technician – basic.  Lt Jones is also a member of the Pelham Fire Department Color Guard.  Lt. Jones is the kind of person that is always ready to help in any capacity needed.  This has served him well in his efforts to serve our Nation and now we benefit from the same honorable traits as he fills his roles with our City.

However, I know “Bill” Jones would be the first to tell you that he is most proud of his 23 year marriage to his lovely wife Maria and his two beautiful children, Michael and Christina.  Not to mention, the pride you see when he talks about his daughter-in-law Wendy, Michael’s wife, and the one Grandson, Dillon.  Bill’s son, Michael, is also serving in the Military and is currently deployed to Iraq.

Please take an opportunity to remember Bill and his son Michael and all our wonderful service men and women with prayers and letters.  We know from Lt Jones’ example, they are more than willing to serve, and yet, the price is high for them and their family.
