Following in his father’s foot steps Chief Ray began his fire service career in 1972 as a junior volunteer firefighter. Chief Ray holds an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Fire Science Management from Shelton State Community College and He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Athens State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Public Safety Administration. He also holds 12 levels of certification from the Alabama Fire College and Personnel Standards and Education Commission, and is Basic and Advanced Life Support Instructor form the American Heart Association. He is qualified as a Medical Unit Leader with the USDA Forest Service.

Robin Wilkinson, Administrative Assistant |

Robin Wilkinson began her career with the City of Pelham in August of 1990 as a receptionist at City Hall. After four and a half years she transferred to the Fire Department to fill the need for an Administrative Assistant. In 2007, Mrs. Wilkinson was presented with the City of Pelham’s Firefighter of the Year Award in recognition of her outstanding service to the community. She now serves as Administrative Assistant to the Pelham Fire Chief.

Peter Zekoff, Battalion Chief

Chief "Pete" Zekoff has been with the Peham Fire Department since January 1979, where he currently serves as Battalion Chief of "A" shift. Chief Zekoff is responsible for coordinating training with Pelham Dispatch and the interaction between Pelham Fire Department and the Dispatch personnel. He has served on the Alabama Fire College Adjunct Faculty since 1983, where he instructs a variety of courses for the resident, field and industrial divisions. He holds an Associates Degree in Fire Science Management and a B.S. in Safety Engineering. In addition to the numerous certificates he holds from the Alabama Fire College, he has also attended the National Fire Academy, Engineering Extension Services at Texas A&M Fire Academy, Beaumont Rail Transportation, CLEAR, Alabama Criminal Justice Information Center, Florida State Smoke Diver School and attended the International Society of Fire Instructor courses. He holds specialized training and instruction in the areas of SCBA, HAZMAT, CISM, and WMD with U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Pete also serves as the chairman for the Pelham Fire Explorer Post #611.

Blair Sides, Battalion Chief

Chief Sides began his fire service career in 1976 as a volunteer for the City of Montevallo. He joined the City of Pelham Fire Department in October of 1984. Chief Sides currently holds a Masters of Science Degree from Samford University in Environmental Management and is a member of the Phi Kapa Phi Honor Society. He earned his Bachelors of Science Degree in Chemistry from the University of Montevallo in 1984. Chief Sides has earned over 60 certifications in various fire service courses from multiple schools across the U.S. Chief Sides currently heads the Hazardous Materials Response Divisions of the Department and serves as the ‘B” shift commander.

Daniel B. Endress, Battalion Chief

Chief Endress began his career with Pelham Fire Department in 1979. During this time he has risen through the ranks and was promoted to Battalion Chief in 1993. During his tenure with Pelham he served as the Director of Emergency Medical Services from 1984 to 1996. He represented Shelby County from 1984 to 2002 on the Executive Board of the Birmingham Regional Emergency Medical Services System. Chief Endress came to Pelham with two years prior fire service experience from Cahaba Heights Fire Department. Chief Endress holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Safety Engineering, is a licensed paramedic, and holds numerous levels of certifications from the Alabama State Fire College. He presently serves as Battalion Chief for C shift. |
David E. McCurry, Division Chief - Division Chief of Training

Chief McCurry began his fire service career as a volunteer for the City of Pelham August 1977. He was hired as a full time firefighter in March 1979. In 1990 he was promoted to Lieutenant and assigned to Station One. In 2000 he was assigned to the training division and in 2001 was promoted to Captain. In 2005 he was promoted to Division Chief. He now serves as the Chief of Training with the responsibility for all fire training for the City of Pelham Fire Department. Chief McCurry holds an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Fire Science Management from Jefferson State Community College. He currently holds 23 levels of certification with the Alabama State Fire College and Personnel Standards and Education Commission, including Fire Officer IV and Fire Instructor III. He is a Certified EMT-Paramedic and an instructor with the American Heart Association in Basic and Advanced Life Support. He is Certified as "Smoke Diver" by the Florida State Fire College. Chief McCurry is a Structural Protection Specialist and Crew & Engine Boss, holding 28 certifications with the United State Forest Service. He is also a lead instructor for the Alabama Forestry Commission and United State Forest Service. He also serves as the Training Officer for Shelby County Fire & EMS Council.

Captain Ward began his career in 1981 with Union Grove Volunteer Fire Department in Jemison, Alabama. Through basic firemanship classes taught by Deputy Chief Mike Howell of the Pelham Fire Department, Captain Ward was allowed to volunteer at Pelham on weekends until he was hired in 1985. During this time he has risen to the rank of Lieutenant in 1996, and Captain in 2001. Presently He serves as the Assistant Training Officer and is assigned Radio Communications for the Fire department. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Public Safety Administration from Athens State University, 20 levels of certification through the Alabama Fire College, 21 levels of certification through The National Fire Academy, 3 levels of certification with the National Forestry Service and is a certified “Smokediver” from Florida State Fire College. He serves as an Adjunct Instructor with the Alabama Fire College and Jefferson State Community College. Captain Ward also serves on the Shelby County Local Emergency Planning Committee as chairman of the Radio Interoperable Communications Committee.

Brian Cleveland, Captain/EMS Director - EMS Division |
 Captain Cleveland began his fire service career in 1977 as a junior volunteer firefighter while attending Pelham High School. He graduated 3 months ahead of his class and began his professional career March 1, 1979. He was promoted to Lieutenant in February of 1994 and to Captain in December of 2002. September of 2007 he accepted his current position as the Director of Emergency Medical Services. Captain Cleveland is a licensed EMT-Paramedic and Advanced Cardiac Life Support Instructor and holds over 35 certifications in various fire service disciplines. As the current Director of Emergency Medical Services, he insures the department personnel have the training and equipment needed to provide the highest level of Emergency Medical Care possible for our citizens.

Dewitt Marcrum , Captain/Fire Marshal - Fire Prevention Division |

Captain Marcrum began his career in the Fire Service, April 9th 1990. He received his paramedic certification August 8th 1991. Captain Marcrum currently holds an Associate Degree in Fire Service Management and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Public Safety Administration. He is nationally certified at the advanced level of Critical Incident Stress Management and holds 18 levels of certification from the Alabama Fire College as well as five certifications from the National Fire Academy. Captain Marcrum was promoted to Lieutenant December 5th 2001 and was assigned to the Fire Prevention Bureau October 1st 2002. He then obtained the rank of Captain October 1st 2005 and is now the Fire Marshal for the City of Pelham. Captain Marcrum is responsible for supervision of the Fire Prevention Division, Fire Code Interpretaion and Enforcement, and Fire Investigation Management.
